Who we are

Shock & Servo (“we”, “us”) is an online publication operated by Magoo Media Group. You can reach us at contact@shockandservo.com.

What we collect

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and which recommendations are useful. It records things like the pages visited, roughly where in the world the visit came from, the type of device, and how visitors arrived. Google may set cookies to do this. We use it in aggregate — we are not trying to identify individual readers and we do not attempt to.

Contact form

If you use our contact form, we receive the name, email address and message you type, so that we can reply. That message is delivered to our inbox by email and kept only as long as it takes to deal with it. We do not add contact form submissions to any mailing list.

Affiliate links

When you click a product link, you are passed to a retailer — usually Amazon — which may set its own cookies to attribute the visit. That happens under the retailer’s privacy policy, not ours. We record that a click happened so we know which recommendations readers find useful; we do not receive your name, payment details or anything about what you go on to buy beyond aggregate commission reporting.

Server logs

Our hosting provider records standard technical logs — IP address, timestamp, page requested — for security and reliability. Our contact form also uses your IP address briefly to rate-limit submissions and block automated spam. It is not stored beyond that.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell or rent reader data.
  • We do not run a newsletter or an advertising network.
  • We do not ask for an account, and there is nothing to log in to.
  • We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Your choices

  • Cookies. Your browser can block or delete cookies, including analytics cookies. The site works fine without them.
  • Do Not Track. Browser-level tracking-protection features will block our analytics, and that is entirely fine by us.
  • Access and deletion. If you have emailed us and want that correspondence deleted, ask at contact@shockandservo.com and we will do it.

Third parties we rely on

  • Google Analytics — audience measurement.
  • Amazon Associates — affiliate link attribution.
  • Our hosting provider — serving the site and keeping technical logs.
  • Microsoft Graph — delivering contact form messages to our inbox.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page changes with it.
